It started at a tasting table
Nick Johnson tasted wine for a living. Years of flights, pour after pour, and one problem that never went away: halfway through every session the whites were warm, and a warm pour tells you almost nothing. The wine changed by the minute while the temperature drifted. It bothered him at work, and it bothered him more at his own table.
He bought all of it first
Neoprene sleeves that sweated through and lost the cold in half an hour. A hollow plastic chilling tube from a marketplace, four dollars, gave up after ten minutes and cracked in the dishwasher. A bigger ice bucket, which solved nothing and took up more of the table.

The idea of chilling from inside the bottle is right. It was the execution that was cheap. So Nick built the version he wanted to own, made a handful for the tasters he worked with, and watched the kit win over every table it landed on. Friends asked for one, then their friends did. Three decisions, and one of them cost him
Steel around the cold, not a bare plastic tube. The cheap version is a thin acrylic tube with a splash of coolant that fades in minutes, which is why so many people think this whole category is a gimmick. Nick sealed a dense food safe cooling core inside 304 stainless steel. The steel pulls the heat out fast and gives the cold back slowly. It is heavier, it costs more to make, and it is the only reason the wine is still cold on your third glass.
An aerator in the spout, not a lid with a hole in it. Cheap sets seal the bottle. Ours opens the wine as it pours, which is why we can talk about how it tastes and not only about how cold it is.
Two in every box. Nick tried selling one. Everybody who owned one ended up giving it away and buying another, so he stopped fighting it. Every tier ships with a free second kit.
What it does not do
It will not rescue a bottle that has been standing in the sun all afternoon. It is built to hold a chill, not to create one from nothing, so it goes into a bottle that is already fridge cold.
And it is up to two hours, not the whole night. We have seen this kind of product sold as three. It is not three. Two hours covers dinner, which is what he built it for.
It fits standard 750ml still wine bottles, and it must never go into sparkling bottles. They are under pressure, and no cold glass of prosecco is worth that risk.
